Continuing its commitment to promote healthy habits among the Hispanic community, while also embracing this year’s World Cup enthusiasm, Nestle® Juicy Juice® announces its fourth consecutive junior soccer tournament, Copita Mundial Juicy Juice 2010. Nearly 2,000 children ages five to 10 from elite junior soccer leagues will have the opportunity to represent their favorite World Cup soccer teams in an effort to win the ultimate prize: The Copita Mundial Juicy Juice.
“We are very excited to bring back Copita Juicy Juice and continue promoting the importance of good nutrition and exercise to families in the Latino community,” said Victoria Nuevo-Celeste, Nestle Juicy Juice Marketing Manager. “As a brand, Nestle Juicy Juice is committed to helping children grow up healthy and happy, and we want to motivate families to stay on the right path toward a healthy lifestyle. Events like Copita Mundial Juicy Juice help promote that message in a fun, engaging way that the whole family can enjoy.”
Copita Mundial Juicy Juice 2010 will kick-off in New York this weekend, May 22-23, followed by Chicago on June 5-6 and Los Angeles on July 24-25. Soccer legends from different Latin American countries will make special appearances at each stop of the tournament including Argentina’s Daniel “El Ruso” Brailovsky, Ecuador’s Alex Aguinaga and Mexico’s Ramon Ramirez, who will provide soccer tips and interact with participating children.
“As an athlete, I understand the importance of physical activity as a good part of a healthy lifestyle,” said Ramon Ramirez, former member of the Mexican National team and of Chivas de Guadalajara, who has participated in Copita Juicy Juice since 2007. “I am very excited to participate once again with Copita Mundial Juicy Juice and see the enthusiasm of all the families.”
This year, the top four teams in each division (U10, U8 and U6) will have the opportunity to win special replica uniforms of their favorite national teams, as well as medals for the top three finishers and a Copita Mundial cup for the first place winners in each market.
Additionally, tournament attendees will enjoy fun raffles, games and samples of Juicy Juice beverages, as well as “meet and greet” opportunities with soccer legends and Registered Dietitian Claudia Gonzalez, author of the award-winning book, “Gordito Doesn’t Mean Healthy.”
According to Gonzalez, “Enjoying fun family activities like soccer, along with a balanced diet, will help children grow up healthy and strong. It is important for parents to always have fruits and vegetables at home so kids can have healthy options instead of high calorie snacks and beverages with low nutritional value. Juicy Juice provides a great option for moms on the go, who want to provide their kids the nutritional benefits of natural fruit juice.”
Nestle Juicy Juice has partnered with the Hispanic Soccer Alliance to offer Copita Mundial Juicy Juice in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Events will take place at the following locations:
May 22-23 at Flushing Meadows Park in Flushing, Queens
June 5-6 at Proviso West High School Fields, Hillside
